Come one…. Come all! This Saturday the circus known as the 2017 Smokin’ Aces Tour comes to the slopes of Schweitzer Mountain Resort! This is not your regular circus. We have swapped a big top tent for a terrain park filled with massive jumps and creative jib features. We have swapped trapeze artists for high flying skiers and snowboarders. The 2017 Smokin’ Aces Tour: Idaho Championship Slopestyle is bringing the best skiers and snowboarders in the Northwest United States into the Stomping Grounds Terrain Park for a high flying show of skill and grace on snow.
This post will give you all the information you would need to know about the 2017 Smokin’ Aces Tour: Idaho Championship Slopestyle this Saturday, February 25th! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are very friendly clowns and love to make sure everyone knows what is going on.

7B Board Shop will be hosting a Pre-Registration Party on Friday from 5:00pm-7:00pm. During this time, competitors can get registered, sign all necessary documents and check-in. All Smokin’ Aces Tour competitors will also receive sales prices on merchandise in 7B Board Shop during the event. Make sure to come down and get signed up the day before the event. We accept cash, check and cards at the day of registration. The Lakeview Lodge is located at the northern most part of the Schweitzer Mountain Resort Village.
All competitors who registered online must check-in before the event. You may do this at either the 7B Board Shop Pre-Registration Party, or you can do it at day of registration up at Schweitzer.

The 2017 Smokin’ Aces Tour: Idaho Championship Slopestyle will take place in the Stomping Ground Terrain Park. To access this venue you must take the Basin Express Chairlift from the Schweitzer Mountain Resort village area. Then you will take Gypsy down to the entrance of the venue. All competitors must have a helmet and bib on to enter the venue. All spectators are asked to come down the skier-left of the venue. We feel the best place to watch the event from is adjacent to the Stomping Grounds Park Shack. Our event MC will be announcing from there. He is guaranteed to bring some excitement and entertainment to the event.
All uphill traffic must be first cleared with Schweitzer Mountian Resort staff. Smokin’ Aces Events does not suggest spectators to walk up to the venue, because it puts more people at risk of injury. Please contact Schweitzer Mountain Resort for more information about walking up to the event.
All competitors in the 2017 Smokin’ Aces Tour: Idaho Championship Slopestyle will receive a discounted day ticket price of $36 (7-17yrs) or $54 (18yrs & older) for the day of the event. Competitors must first check-in to gain access to this ticket price.
The venue will be open before the vent for competitors to inspect the course, and have time to practice. Smokin’ Aces Events greatly suggests all competitors to familiarize themselves with the event venue prior to the event. Training will begin when the Stomping Grounds Terrain Park Staff has finished all prep work and cleared the course for entry. ALL COMPETITORS MUST HAVE THEIR HELMET AND BIB ON TO ENTER THE VENUE.
Each competitor will be given two runs through the course. They will be scored by three different judges on a scale of 0-10. These scores will then be added up to get the official run score. Judges will be scoring competitors based on skill, difficulty of tricks, execution, amplitude and overall impression. Our judges are looking for competitors to not only do difficult tricks, but to implement style into them. A sloppy 900 will always score lower than a stylish 720. Judges are also looking for competitors to spin and slide rails both directions. Versatility will score better than repetitive tricks. The competitors final score will be the better score of their two runs. Final results will be based on this score. If you have any questions, please direct them to the Chief of Course, Steve Knox.
Smokin’ Aces Events and Schweitzer Mountain Resort please ask all spectators to stay off the event venue during training and the event. You may shoot photos and video, but it must be done from the outside of the closure rope. Only authorized individuals can access the venue during training and competition.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers an array of parking options. From pay parking to free parking. A shuttle from the base of the mountain to the village is also available. Smokin’ Aces Events suggests that all competitors get to the hill early in the morning before parking fills up.
Hotel Ruby Ponderay is offering discounted rates to all Smokin’ Aces Tour competitors and their families. You must call in to get the discounted prices. The promotional code is: SMOKE. Their phone number is (208) 263-5383. Availability is limited to what Hotel Ruby has. Rates apply from 2/24-2/26.
